Have you ever found yourself in a design rut? Or, maybe you just can’t seem to find a design you spent hours creating? Shutterstock Editor recently released a new homepage that solves those design problems, and more.
Creating a design from scratch or finding design inspiration can be both time-consuming and frustrating. Now you say goodbye to time spent recreating the same social media design over and over, or endlessly scrolling for inspiration, and say hello to a fun and easy-to-use page that stores all of your saved designs and tons of templates for endless amounts of inspiration. With this as your new Editor home-base, you can spend less time getting started and more time creating your next great design.
Read on to discover the ways Shutterstock Editor’s new homepage can make your design process a breeze.
Quickly Search Through Previous Designs
The Shutterstock Editor homepage takes you straight to the My Designs page. From here you can easily browse through featured templates at the top of the homepage, or search through all of your previous designs made in the Editor app. The ability to quickly glance at your designs eliminates the need to recreate the same composition over and over again – now you can just click on a previous design to make changes to it.
To create a new design, simply select the blue plus sign; you’ll be greeted with a popup menu asking which size to make your canvas. You can then get started on your new composition by using Editor’s versatile tools and effects. Any saved designs will reappear later in the My Designs tab on the homepage.
Browse and Select Editor Templates
Navigate over to the Templates tab to browse through a huge selection of pre-designed Shutterstock Editor templates in various sizes, ranging from Facebook images to Pinterest posts. Simply select the format you’re looking for under Refine by Category to narrow down template sizes.
These templates can be used for any season, occasion, or business. You’ll find designs that work for holiday seasons and other designs that work for marketing your products or services. You can also use these templates as inspiration for your next design; the color palettes, typography, or images used may help you get out of that design funk.
Give Your Template a Quick Refresh
Once you’re set on a template, click on the design to be redirected to the Shutterstock Editor app. While these templates come pre-designed, they can be customized to fir your needs. See how a template previously designed for a furniture store can undergo some visual updates to market a women’s shoe store.
To update the design I just swapped out the imagery, typography, and copy. Switch out the template image by importing your own image with the My Content (M) tab, or by searching through Shutterstock’s collection in the Search (S) tab.
You can see how replacing the image helps transform the template – it’s the easiest way to refresh a design. Update the template even further by editing the copy and font style. Activate the text box and change the font style by choosing from Editor’s selection of free fonts.
You can see how simple it is to give any of Editor’s templates a fresh update, just by replacing the image and altering the copy and text styles. Try it out for yourself and come up with intriguing styles to use in your next design.
